Helia Megowan started in rhythmic gymnastics but began her formal ballet training at age five with School of Oregon Ballet Theater. She took her Intermediate through Advanced Two Royal Academy of Dance exams with June Taylor-Dixon and earned Distinction on each one. She trained for one year at the John Cranko School in Stuttgart, Germany, and attended summer courses at School of American Ballet, San Francisco Ballet School, and Houston Ballet Academy. Additionally, she coached a Rhythmic Gymnastics team during her senior year of high school. Next year, she will be studying Biology at the University of Oregon Honors College as well as dancing in Eugene Ballet’s Pre-Professional Division.

JTSD alumna Sarah Taylor recently joined Dance Kaleidoscope, a professional contemporary dance company in Indiana. Sarah began and completed her training at JTSD in ballet, jazz, and modern where she passed her Royal Academy of Dance ballet exams with Distinction. During her studies at JTSD, she also danced with NWDT, and was a semi-finalist at the Genee International Ballet Competition in Antwerp, Belgium. She went on to perform with Ballet Concerto, Lake Erie Ballet, and SoMar Dance Works, and recently graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mercyhurst University with a B.F.A. in Dance.

JTSD alumna Katelyn May currently dances with Ballet Arizona. Previously, she danced as a Senior Principal dancer with The Sarasota Ballet. After years of training at JTSD, Katelyn went on to dance professionally with Houston Ballet and was later promoted to the position of Demi Soloist.
